of Apollo, son of Jupiter, radiant god and icon in the modern
sense: for the beauty he offers, for the absolute fascination he
embodies.
Simon Nessman is the new face of the fragrance. With his
sculptural and elegant body, he is the perfect embodiment of
a contemporary Apollo.
Behind the lenses: Bruce Weber, one of the greatest fashion
photographers, renowned for his representation of the male body.
His visual signature is recognizable in the new Acqua di Giò
advertising campaign.

Giorgio Armani has always loved the Mediterranean, and drew
his inspiration from the rock-strewn landscape of Pantelleria
to create Acqua di Giò in 1996. A fresh, sensual blend that has
become a classic men’s fragrance. An irresistible combination
of sea’ salty accents, sparkling citrusy notes, musk and woody
cedar, this exceptional scent embodies masculinity in harmony
with nature, a fragrance of escape and sensuality.
Today Acqua di Giò Essenza opens a new chapter with an Eau
de Parfum, a new interpretation of Acqua di Giò, more intense.

EAU DE PARFUM
Acqua di Giò Essenza, composed by Alberto Morillas, evolved
out of its predecessor but differs from it in many ways.
The top note is different: in Acqua di Giò, the famous Calone,
that once immersed us in the salt water of the sea, has given
way to a new ingredient, used here for the very first time,
Cascalone. We are no longer in an iodized wave but in
the coolness of fresh water, in the invigorating purity of
a flowing spring. The water runs, sparkles in a constantly
renewed dance. It courses through the entire fragrance
and gives it an extraordinary, persistent freshness. A profound
freshness, sustained by accents of Cologne, Sicilian bergamot
essence and delicious grapefruit zest.
Now to the heart note: Hedione, a founding product of
contemporary perfumery created in the 1960’s, is replaced by
one of its descendents, still new to the perfumer’s palette,
aptly named Paradisone. Like its ancestor, it has the amazing
ability to brighten everything around it and reinforce the
stength of each ingredient, to last in the long run and anchor
the molecules in the aura. Paradisone also adds a floral and
vaporous scent, rather intriguing and delicate, that reveals
the beauties of jasmine absolute from Grasse and the
vegetal facets of basil and sage.
Also the bottom note is distinctive, reinventing everything.
Almost every one of the original elements is present but
totally revised. Patchouli is obtained by a new distillation
method, becoming a “heart of patchouli” that sweeps away the
usual hints of camphor and banishes the earthy heaviness to
focus on the vibration and play around notes of leather. The
cedar is Atlas cedar, very pure and smooth. Vetiver from Haiti
unveils soft, spicy/smoky hints of tropical wood, far from
the expected Mediterranean notes. As for Ambrox, hovering
between animalic ambergris and clary sage, there is ten
times more of it than in Acqua di Giò Eau de Toilette.
The result is an incomparable sensuality, the tantalizing lure
of the skin.

A BOTTLE ABLAZE WITH LIGHT
It shares the same architectural lines as the Acqua di Giò bottle,
with the addition of light and technology. An engraved silverplated
plaque embraces the base of the glass like a mirror, to
give the fragrance an even greater dazzle. In a click, the new
magnetic cap bearing the Armani logo, opens and closes the
bottle with a simple, sensual gesture.
